First Training Course at the BDC CyberHub

On Tuesday 15 December 2020, ten students from Barking & Dagenham College (BDC) in London attended the very first ‘Introduction to Cyber Security’ Training Course, proving that students are prepared to stand up to Coronavirus when it comes to furthering their education and building a career in Cyber Security.

The CyberHub Trust has launched its first ‘CyberHub SOC’ (Secure Operations Centre) at BDC, as part of the suite of services provided by the Trust, including Training, Apprenticeships, Employer Services and Community Outreach activity, all of which focus on developing skills, knowledge and qualifications in Cyber Security.

BluescreenIT Ltd. (the Service Provider who is supporting The CyberHub Trust and will manage the BDC SOC), provided two of their top Cyber Security specialists and the very first Training Course was presented by Haydon Beagley (pictured). Each of the students received a formal certificate, confirming their at the event, although the primary objective of the event was to gauge interest in the field of Cyber Security – and to assess how many students would want to progress their education in this field.

Most of the students expressed a keen interest in furthering their education in Cyber Security and several also mentioned that they would be really keen to take up Apprenticeship opportunities from The CyberHub Trust, through its sponsors and partners.

According to one attendee, Adam Buffoli, on his LinkedIn page after the event:

"… it was a pleasure and an honour to be one of the first students to be at the special operations centre at BDC …. I hope to become a cyber security engineer, or analyst apprentice one day".

Good luck Adam!
